As the 19th largest city in the state of Arizona, Maricopa is just far enough away from its big brother of Phoenix to be in a class all to itself. Home to about 44,000 residents, Maricopa is located in Pinal County in the Gila River Valley area of Arizona.

 

Once three separate locations, Maricopa Wells, Maricopaville and Maricopa Junction, it was not until 2003 that Maricopa became its own incorporated town growing in just 10 years over 40,000 residents!

Maricopa has certainly seen its share of history changing moments just over the last 10 years. With the expansive growth that has happened in the last decade Maricopa is still increasing shops, restaurants, housing, medical facilities and industries as well as community projects.  This area has seen the most growth in Maricopa Arizona homes than any other community in the Phoenix area.

The level of resident demographics shows 61% hold a bachelors or graduate degree. While many Maricopa AZ homes are priced far below market value, the average income of most residents is at least $75,000. That’s among the highest in the state. With over 45 square miles and constantly expanding, Maricopa is a world unto itself.

Founders Day – Typically held in October, this event is to commemorate the founding of Maricopa and includes live music, chili cook-offs, BBQ competition and much more!

Salsa Festival – Held every April this events is fun for the whole family including kids games, salsa contests, live music, crafts, arts and food.

Holiday Homes on Parade – This annual event has become tradition for many Maricopa residents. Folks come together in the Spirit of the Holiday and dress their homes to impress. The City of Maricopa offers maps for touring these lit up homes and the winner typically receives gift cards for Ace Hardware or other local sponsors.

Stagecoach Days – Also held in October is the annual Stagecoach Days. This celebrates the founding of our community and enhances the welfare and spirit of our area. The party offers carnival activities, stagecoach rides, of course, beer gardens, live music and much more.

Parent/Child Fishing Derby – Typically held in March, the Parent/Child Fishing Derby is a wonderful tradition for the families in Maricopa Arizona. Help at Pacana Park, this event is open to children ages 5-12 and allows a little over 150 kids to enter. Prizes are given and there is always a bounty of food and family fun to go around.

Great American Barbecue – Also held at Pacana Park, this every in Summer offers water sports, inflatables, games, contests food, and of course fireworks! Sit back and enjoy all that summer has to offer in Maricopa. Shuttles bus folks from all over the city to enjoy without having to walk blocks to the scene.
